Collection: End-Grain Cutting Boards

This is our specialty. End-grain construction isn't just a method—it's the difference between a cutting board and an heirloom.

WHAT IS END-GRAIN?
Traditional cutting boards are made from face-grain or edge-grain, where you're cutting across the wood fibers. End-grain is different. The wood fibers stand upright, so when you cut, your knife goes between the fibers rather than through them.

Think of it like cutting into the end of a bundle of straws rather than slicing through the side.

WHY IT MATTERS
This construction method creates a surface that's naturally self-healing. The wood fibers close around knife cuts, which means the board repairs itself with use. Your knives stay sharper longer because they're not dulling against the wood grain. And the board itself lasts dramatically longer.

This is why professional kitchens use end-grain. It's why serious home cooks invest in them. It's the right way to build a cutting board—if you're willing to put in the work.

THE WORK
End-grain construction is more labor-intensive. Each board requires precise cutting, multiple glue-ups, careful clamping, extensive planing, and sanding through six grits. What could be done faster another way takes us days to do correctly.

But the result is a board that will serve a family for generations.

THE MATERIALS
Every board in this collection features premium domestic and exotic hardwoods—Maple, Black Walnut, Cherry, African Mahogany, Sapele, Purpleheart. Species vary based on availability and design, but the quality never does.

The grain patterns are natural. The craftsmanship is meticulous. No two boards are identical.

THE PATTERNS
From intricate lattice work that showcases hundreds of precisely cut pieces to bold geometric designs that make a statement, each pattern is carefully planned and executed. Simple or complex, every board receives the same attention to detail.
