Our Woven Grain tier represents weaving multiple woods into varied woven patterns. Bold designs that create visual depth through interlocking wood combinations.
Basket weave variations:
- Basket Weave: Evenly spaced rectangular blocks in a traditional over-under pattern (1st & 2nd pics)
- Tight Weave: Evenly spaced but smaller rectangular blocks in a traditional over-under pattern (3rd & 4th Pics)
The specific weave style is selected to best complement each board's dimensions and wood combination. All variations share the same interlocking basket weave structure that creates stunning visual depth and movement.
The grain patterns are natural—no two boards are identical.
Each board is built using traditional end-grain construction, where wood fibers stand upright to create a naturally self-healing surface that's gentle on knife edges. This is the method used in professional kitchens because it works.
MATERIALS
Featured combinations:
- Dark variation: Sapele and Black Walnut border (Featured Board)
- Medium variation: Cherry and Black Walnut border (2rd Picture)
- Light Variation : Maple and Cherry Border (Not pictured)
Crafted from carefully selected domestic and exotic hardwoods. Wood species vary based on availability and design – common combinations include Maple, Black Walnut, African Mahogany, Sapele and or Cherry.
Each board's wood combination is unique. Contact us if you have specific preferences.
WHY END GRAIN:
End-grain construction is gentle on knife edges, self-healing from cuts, and incredibly durable. The grain fibers stand upright like a field of wheat, allowing knife edges to slip between them rather than cutting across. This means your knives stay sharper longer and your board lasts generations.
